Google's Pixel live wallpapers are blossoming with four new additions

Google's Pixel phones are the first to receive Android updates and regularly get first dibs on new software features through monthly feature drops. December's feature drop is already here, packing a few nifty improvements, new wallpapers, and much-awaited features like clear calling for the Pixel 7 series. However, more recent additions to the wallpaper selection on new and older Pixel phones might fly under the radar. Those four new live wallpapers have been added to Pixel phones.

The Pixel 6 series from a year ago included new wallpapers, including active wallpapers that respond to touch input, as expected of any new Google-branded smartphone. Two exquisite flower live wallpapers that move against your swipes to give the impression of motion are part of the Bloom collection. Google's Pixel phones usually gain early access to new software features through monthly feature drops and are the first to receive updates for Android. The December feature drop has arrived and includes a few valuable upgrades, new wallpapers, and much-awaited features like clear calling for the Pixel 7 series. Though they may have gone unnoticed, there have been a few more recent wallpaper changes on both new and older Pixel phones. Bloom, a unique collection of live wallpapers for Pixel phones, adds a bit of flair to the home and lock screens.

 

 

 

 

Like every other new Google-branded smartphone, the Pixel 6 series from a year ago brought new wallpapers, including active wallpapers that react to touch input. The Bloom set has two gorgeous flower live wallpapers that move in the opposite direction of your swipes to simulate motion. But now, with the December feature drop, Google has added a new live wallpaper to the Pixel 6 series: a wintery version of Bloom that reacts to both touches and device movement.

 

Google has released a collection of four new live wallpapers called Live Bloom. Once it was established that the Living Universe collection is compatible with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, it was repositioned lower down in the live wallpapers section of both phones. The Living Universe live wallpapers will be featured alongside the Live Bloom set in the latest version of Google's Pixel launcher.

 

The new Bloom live wallpapers' visual components employ a 3D parallax effect to create the illusion of depth and movement. As with Google Photos' 3D Cinematic Moments, we expected Android 13 to support 3D wallpapers, and it looks like it does. The 3D Parallax Bloom effect will be available for all Android 13 phones, not just the Pixel series. This means that users of any Android 13 device can enjoy the same breathtaking effects seen on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7.

 

The charming Pokémon collection, which was only available on Pixel 4 series phones, has been cancelled, another recent change affecting live wallpapers on Pixel phones. The licencing for the Pokémon wallpapers expired, according to the changelog for the most recent Pixel Live Wallpaper software version. However, Google has said they are working to introduce new live wallpapers to replace the Pokémon collection.

 

Although having various backgrounds constantly changing is perfectly acceptable, we will miss having Pokémon on our displays. You might choose a few alternative live wallpapers if you don't like them. But none of them can replace the nostalgia and appeal of the Pokémon wallpapers.
